The Real World

The Real World

Every now and then, I take a moment to reflect on where I am in life. Sometimes I’m pleased. Other times I’m disappointed. Today, I’m healthy, physically fit, surrounded by wonderful supportive friends, loved by my family, in a great church, but I’m laid off. I’m sure that many of you have experienced a corporate layoff, but have you experienced it 4 times? No, that wasn’t a typo. This is my 4th corporate layoff. This is my “Real World”.

Ironically, I have peace about my current situation. Every corporate layoff opened the door for me to gain experience in another industry. I went from Manufacturing to Human Resources to Healthcare to Market Research. In addition, corporate layoffs motivated me to start my Life Coach business which allows me to share my struggles and successes with others. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that almost every time I transitioned into a new industry, I received a pay increase. That’s almost unheard of in this economy. However, God has always blessed me financially and I’ve strived to be a good steward of his financial blessings.

Today, I’m truly excited about the doors of opportunity that God is opening for me. I’m not sure where I will land, but I know that God is equipping me to do great things.

As you reflect on your life, celebrate your blessings. Embrace our struggles. And know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)
